"Life in God is a daring adventure through the uncharted depths of love" - Ilia Delio, OSF. The Road explores and applies this wonderful statement about life in God in as many ways as – through intentional community, service and work, life in the neighborhood, prayer and worship, retreat, play and recreation, and political activism.
Spirituality is not something separate from life and work but a dimension of all that we do and hope to achieve. We believe that the spiritual journey is an integral part of growth and capacity for service, love, justice, and leadership.
The Road fellows come from a variety of religious and spiritual backgrounds and traditions---or with no experience in a faith community at all. This diversity enriches our life and prayer together. We welcome questions and curiosity about the spiritual journey and find joy in exploring and learning about life in God with others.
The Road community follows a regular rhythm of communal prayer on Fridays and some evenings during the week. Throughout the year Road fellows are introduced to different kinds of spiritual practices and prayer. We have the opportunity to go on retreat 3 times a year.
What is one way you have grown this year?
From the Bible to contemporary voices of insight and wisdom, we draw on resources both ancient and new, sometimes challenging and irreverent, to spark our life together. Experiences from fellows’ site placements and challenges from the reality of world around us provoke lively theological reflection and discernment.
Road fellows meet regularly with a spiritual mentor, if they so desire. Most Road fellows have found this relationship to be a valuable source of support and encouragement in their spiritual journey.
